One of my favorite pieces of advice from Alexandra Stoddard's
Living a Beautiful Life is in the very first chapter - Rituals.
To summarize, it is about taking the ordinary, daily tasks
we all have to do and creating a ritual so that the task
becomes an event, for example, daily water intake.
Water is essential to good health. It facilitates proper digestion
and circulation, removes toxins and
regulates body temperature.
That being said, if we must drink water,
why not make it a pleasurable experience.
Instead of using a plastic water bottle
(bad for the environment),
why not keep a carafe of fresh water in the refrigerator.
If you have a family heirloom, don't be afraid to use it! It will just add to the experience. If you don't, the simple, elegant carafe above is of course from maggieandreese.com.
Whatever you choose, start a new ritual tomorrow morning
as you prepare yourself for the day:
chill water, pour into a beautiful glass,
light a candle at your vanity
and by the time your hair is coiffed and makeup applied
your outlook on the day will be, well, beautiful!
