2015 Color of the Year

Marsala 18-1438.
I heard about Pantone's selection for
color of the year while on travel.
The next day as I played with watercolors,
I was amazed at how "neutral" Marsala could be.

This is Pantone's description of their 2015 winner:

Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name,
this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal
while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.

And they are right!
As I flipped through design magazines and browsed
fashion catalogs, I was amazed at how often
colors similar to Marsala were part of the mix.
When you Google Marsala, or search on Pinterest,
everything shows up from deep hued burgundy and
rich red-brown to plummy purple.
So whatever twist of Marsala is calling you,
chase the winter blues away with this
dramatic, earthy, warmth inducing shade,
the 2015 neutral - Marsala!
