And they're off!

Mid-April I feel the excitement starting as the
first weekend in May looms on the horizon.
Why?
The Kentucky Derby!
My inner equestrian starts dreaming
of all things Derby...

The Derby may be over but this party menu is too good to pass over: Roasted Brown-Butter Pecans, Spring-on-a-Plate Salads, Assorted Vegetables with Whipped Lemon Aioli, Biscuits and Ham with Fig Chutney and Blue Cheese Butter, from Southern Living

HATS

Kentuck Derby 2012 Hats on parade: When you've got a hat like this, you can't limit yourself to a single day of preening. With more than 100,000 people at Churchill Downs on Friday for the running of the Kentucky Oaks, one day before the Derby, there was plenty of preening fashion plates. Here, Rachel Ford sticks with the floral theme of Derby week.

Roses

And of course, horses!

My selection strategy includes silk colors,
horse color, name or just a personal connection.
So taking all of that into consideration,
this year I am going with
Wildcat Red
in honor of one son in
Arizona and my red headed son across the pond!
