Artist 101 at the Dallas Arboretum

With spring color starting to pop up all over town, Maggie and Reese decided to visit the Dallas Arboretum and see their artistic take on spring blooms for 2012.  The day was slightly overcast but it was quickly determined to be ideal for capturing both the brilliant and subtle hues of the gardens.   As we were strolling along a garden path, all of the sudden we noticed a pretty little cottage ahead.....

and right next to it, a small arched bridge...

Hm mm,  this looks vaguely familiar!
Maggie pulled out her guide and quickly discovered that the Dallas Arboretum is celebrating the life of 5 selected artist from March 3 - December 31.  Local architects, builders and interior designers have created the exhibit of small houses with interiors that reflect the style of the artist, a few of their works and how they might have lived.  Each house has a 'book" outside that reveals a little bit
about the life of each artist.
We thought it would be fun to see how many art aficionados we have out there so here is our Artist 101 Challenge:
Today and for the next 4 Wednesdays, we will post pictures of an artist house and a few clues, if you "like" AND "share" the contest announcement post on our facebook page
you will receive a coupon for use at
If you "follow" our blog, in addition to the coupon,
you will receive free shipping on one item
purchased from Maggie & Reese.
Finally, the first person to correctly identify all five artist and answer the challenge question will receive all of the above AND a free gift from our on-line boutique!
So put on your thinking caps, here is
the challenge question for this week's artist:

Name the painting that not only defined this artist but named an entire art movement?

In closing, here are a few pictures from our trip as they might have been interpreted by this artist:
GOOD LUCK!
